| Saper Sedere (Knowing how to sit) … our experience |
| |
We sit down to work at the computer, to meet and talk with others, to write, to telephone and, last but not least, to relax and rejuvenate, which means that sitting plays a leading role in both our spare time and at work. |
A good part of our daily lives is spent sitting down and even though it might seem a static state, it is not : in fact it changes according to whether we are at work, at home or travelling by road, rail or air; in other words it can be considered a dynamic activity just like walking, running or sleeping. |
Just like devices or equipment which are tailored to the physical attributes of the user are indispensable for all these actions (e.g. the right footwear for sport, the right mattress to sleep properly, etc.), so too it is necessary to have an aid, when sitting, that ensures a “personalised” posture which should be appropriate for the anthropometric features of the individual. |

Just think of the influence that the working environment has on personal productivity and it is easy to understand the importance of a chair, since this is often the only component that can guarantee adaptation to the user’s body through its mechanisms. |

The design of office chairs is today strictly governed by Italian and European legislation (Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008 and EN Directive 1335 1-2-3 respectively) continuously reducing the freedom given to the subjective interpretation of the concept of comfort; laws and standards specify the requirements that manufacturers must strictly comply with when designing chairs in order to guarantee correct posture in relation to the user’s body. |

Leyform has been tackling these challenges for more than 40 years in its commitment to conceiving and manufacturing "machines for sitting" that are attractively designed yet meeting the crucial requirements for the office, home and communities, as well. The successful outcome of this task is proved by the test certificates which Leyform has obtained from CATAS, the main laboratory in Italy for the Technical assistance of chair and furniture manufacturers, recognised as HIGHLY SPECIALIZED by the Italian Ministry for Research and Development. |
